The most famous resident of my town was a young guitarist and singer who died in a motorcycle accident 30 years ago, at the age of 26. Last Sunday, a concert was organized in his honor by his old musician friends in the main square of the city. So I took my kids to their first ever rock/metal concert. Daughter is 5 years old son is 8. They both really enjoyed it

i went with a couple of friends to see Amaranth and Dragonforce. i made it through about 6 or 7 songs of dragonforce, got bored and left. plus i couldn't stand up anymore. my feet and hips were killing me. the club that they played at has absolutely terrible acoustics so the sound was pretty bad. i just wasn't into it.

^So sorry for that John. Especially your feet and hip. By the way I just listened to some Dragonforce stuff today. Their song Through Fire and Flames is a bomb but not another song by them can reach that high standard in my opinion.

it was about what i expected it to be. i really wanted to see them play My Spirit Will Go On, or whatever it's called, but i just lost interest in it and the pain i was in helped me decided to leave.

Nice Tomcat! So how was the show? Overall, I liked it because it's always good to see the Master. He can always recharge my batteries. The setlist is another matter. I would prefer a less routine setlist. I'd gladly drop Man and Machine, Independence Day, Holy, and even They Want War. Instead of those overplayed songs, they should choose some rarely or never played songs. But I'm glad they didn't play any ACCEPT songs this time. Oh, and one more. I was hoping that Udo wouldn't wear that bathrobe at the concert in Budapest, but in the end he did. With a black undervest, which allowed us to see his huge stomach and humped navel. Earlier he used to hide his extra pounds more skillfully with black or camouflage shirts

yeah, the setlist is always up for discussion. i also wish they'd drop those overplayed songs. there is no need to keep them. the belly stuff sounds gross. glad i didn't have to witness that!
my son and i went to see Gloryhammer last wednesday. what a cool show. the new singer not only hits all the notes, but seems to hit them much easier than the original singer did. they did the typical Hoots drinking beer bit and crowning him "king" at the end. the setlist was much of the same as last time with only one new song. still, we enjoyed the show a lot. glad we went.

bart and i went to see a show last night and i have to say that i have not had that much fun and been that entertained in a very long time. every band was so good. i had a smile on my face from the first minute until the last.
let me start this review by saying that i hadn't ever heard a single song by any of these before in my life, at least not that i know of.
6:30PM - The Dread Crew Of Oddwood. acoustic folk metal. i didn't think i would like this at all, but they sucked me in from the start. such a cool live band! they have so much fun on stage and it translates to the audience. they are from los angeles. the drummer has longer hair than me. got a pic with him after their set. fun fun fun.
Ether Reality - they were really good too, i think. we were standing in the second row and all we could hear was subwoofer. the drummer was friggin amazing. fast hands and feet. he could easily play dragonforce stuff just to warm up.
Trollfest - we moved back to the soundboard so we could hear everything better. they all came out dressed as pink flamingos! hahaha they were beyond entertaining and fun to watch. bart and i both got pic with them after their set. i liked them so much that i bought a t-shirt of theirs just because.
Tyr - i have to be honest, after the first 3 bands and the fun, chaotic, and energetic sets they played, Tyr was almost a let down. they were tighter than 2 coats of paint but they were far more serious and couldn't really match up to the atmosphere that the previous bands had set. they were still great but just not as fun as the others. i guess i could relate to when a grade school class starts, everybody is talking and goofing off having fun and being loud, then the teacher walks in and the mood changes instantly.
all in all, it was great show that i would never have gone to if bart hadn't talked me into it and i'm so glad he did.

Thank you for the review John! Glad you had a great time there. Do you remember the drummer of Tyr? As I have said he played the drums in my ultimate fav Hungarian band Dalriada. But in my opinion he could easily play his drum parts in Tyr with one finger in his a$$...

i didn't recognize him, but i agree, the Tyr drum parts are not that difficult, and especially after seeing the drums of the other bands before them. but i also subscribe to the thought that playing difficult things is not always best.

He played much more difficult things in Dalriada and I liked his Animal (from the Muppet Show) -like style
