I was going to see WASP and Crazy Lixx in myö hometown on Saturday, but they cancelled it that day, so we got idea to travel 2 hours there and back to see Battle Beast. 😅
Battle beast is a solid live band, unfortunately they do not play any songs from Anton-era.

Battle Beast is coming here with Kamelot but i'm not going. Battle Beast has lost me with their soft sound and i never really got into Kamelot. besides, i've already seen them too anyway.
my last gig was Wig Wam in los angeles. there were friggin great!! i guess i'll do a review of the show here...
so my wife and i left early so we could hang out at the hotel and maybe swim or just relax before the show. it's a good thing we left early though because it took us 9 d**ned hours to make the normal 6 hour drive. it was all because of traffic from some bullpoop hip hop festival letting out. so we got to the hotel just in time to take a very quick shower and get to the show. when we got there, the first band was playing their last couple of songs. i don't know what they were called but they were boring as hell and just played lame punk music covers. they were fake punk rockers. embarrassing. then the second "band" came out. fukk me in the ass with no lube. they were a folk duo and they were so fukking lame. the entire club went dead silent and it sucked more balls than Sasha Grey in a gang-bang scene. i kept thinking, i drove 9 fukking hours to see this?!? the singer said stuff like "this next song is about hummingbirds...", "this song is about how delicate our flower friends are". fukk that sh*t. the third band came out, i don't know their name either but at least they were rock. the singer wore an all white 3 piece suit and thought he was the sh*t. he wasn't. their bass player was a chick that wore,..., i think they're called "skorts" or something like that? Mrs. Brady wore them in the 70's tv show "The Brady Bunch" and my mom wore them back in the 70's too. ugh. so lame. i kept thinking "this is the best L.A. bands have to offer now?!? how the mighty have fallen.
Then Wig Wam finally came out and they delivered a 100% very cool rock show. they were very engaged with the audience. all 4 of them, even the drummer! they played a little more than 90 minutes and played most of my favorite songs by them. it was their first ever U.S. tour and they were so grateful and humble to be here. i video recorded most of the show. i started having some intense pain during the show so i couldn't go down on the floor, i had to stay in my seat. d**ned old people problems! Age, the singer, talked a bit between songs and his stories were very entertaining and interesting. his norwegian accent was captivating to me. the bass player, Bernt, did backup vocals and sang one song himself. he's pretty good on vocals and really good on bass. the guitar player, Trond, was amazing as usual, and the drummer, Oystein, was friggin incredible behind the kit. they did a free meet and greet after the show and so i got to meet them all and talk to them a bit. very cool guys and very interested in us fans. it was a great time. i bought t-shirts for me, my wife, my son, and daughter so i could help support the band. i told Bernt that we'd driven 9 hours to see them and he said "i wouldn't drive that long to see me". i said "dude, you flew halfway around the world to see ME!" he laughed and Trond laughed too.
it was just a very good time and with all of the other stuff that we had to put up with, was still worthwhile. i'd highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance.

Thanx for the review John! Well, too many warm up acts are never good. Your saying "you flew halfway around the world to see ME" is hilarious

does peter do anything to show off his talents like he did with wolf? i always thought that made peter shine as a bass player.

Okey, so now it is the time for little report of the last week's U.D.O. gig. Me and my brother decided to go and see them eventhough the venue was over 300 km away (4,5 hours drive). For me there was two reasons: we had not seen Peter and Udo together on stage and also there is always the chance that it can be the last time to see this band live, you never know when there will be no tours anymore. If there would have been any other band, I would not have gone: I think this tells a lot about the band! So we started our journey by car at 2.30 pm (and I was back at home at 3.20am ). Festival was really small, but really cozy and there was a nice atmosphere. The place was in a little village in a little town, so the festival area was next to the field. It was an experience the place itself! There was some bands before U.D.O. and after U.D.O. there was also Hardcore Superstar playing. I would have wanted to see them as well, but then I would have been at home at 6am, so we had to skip that band. The 69 Eyes (famous Finnish gothic rock band) was playing before U.D.O. and they were solid and good. But then to the gig. I am really happy that they play only U.D.O. songs again at their gigs. Dirkschneider-gigs are different thing, so I am happy that they concentrate on U.D.O. material on U.D.O. concerts. I think that if the band has been playing for 36 years, they can find enough songs for their setlist. Setlist was quite nice, one song from Faceless World could have been nice, but I was just happy that they didn't play Accept, even though I think many people in the festival were expecting those. Timebomb was the highlight for me, my brother said that They want war was his. It was also nice to hear Go Back to Hell. The Bogeyman and The Wrong side of midnight together with Independence Day were the songs I didn't care much about, but you can't have everything. The band was playing really tight, and I could see that they were having fun there! Peter and Udo were doing some movements there together, and I could see that Peter has brought some new energy to the whole gang. Peter was not doing any bass solos or anything extra special, but I think when time goes by, he will be more showman there. Now he is still the new guy in the band. Sven is getting better and better, I cannot complain about his playing anymore like I did earlier, he is a good drummer! And Udo, he did not seem to become any older, his voice was much better than I expected. After the gig we went out and on the way going out I saw the band walking to the backstage house (there was some gap in the fence), so I yelled "Thank you Udo!" and he waved at me while walking. That was nice! I was really happy that they came to Finland to play and I am really happy that we went to see them. I assume it was my 10th time and the gigs have been in 4 different countries.

Thank you Rikke for the review! Glad that you enjoyed the gig and didn't regret the long road you had to take. My fav part was Udo waving to you
