For me the last .U.D.O. show I witnessed was a disappointment. I am sorry for that. They were in fire in Tampere.

Slot, for sure. I gotta see ther gig in the end of January.
Doro is great but too predictable. Slot is more aggressive , interesting .
I have 5 of their albums- they all scores! the time has come to see this beautiful voice and great music live!

It's a very interesting thread, Mika! There are two bands for me which have never disappointed me. These two are Rhapsody and Sonata Arctica. They always can surprise me I'd be glad if I could say the same about my best ever top faves of all time ever: ACCEPT and .U.D.O. But we all know the facts I also liked Blind Guardian and Grave Digger earlier but they've lost their way imo. Update: You can delete Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody from my list...

Now there's a difficult thread. What band has never let you down? I'd like to answer Accept and U.D.O., but that's not the case, even thought to me these two bands are the best there are. However one thing I can say in which occasion UDO nor Accept have not let me down. In live occasion they are always been great, not a single disappointment. But album wise there are some disappointments. Accept has disappointed me three times and U.D.O. twice. Now when I am thinking of bands which haven't let me down ever, there are not so many. Ofcourse it is matter of the releases, the more the releases the bigger is a chance to be disappointed at. However I can say two bands: Vanize and Dream Evil. Vanize have released 4 albums and Dream Evil also 4. They have always been able to deliver great albums. However there's also a chance that there's going to be a let down when the possible next record is out. You can erase Dream Evil and Vanize from my list.

SABATON has never let me down, they have made great albums and live they are brilliant. that is very true!!!! i've only experienced great things with them at the live shows and everyone i know feels the same. Accept is another band like that of course. u.d.o. is the same. everyone loves the live shows. gwar is another. i've seen them 5 times and every show is a spectacle, although there are some moments of boredom at their shows but i think that's because the music doesn't stand up to the show. but still, i've never felt disappointed after a gwar show. you can exclude sabaton from my list for sure!! they've done nothing but let me down over the years. starting with not meeting my WWII P.O.W. veteran neighbor, then to find out that their vocals are pre-recorded. the disappointment went through the roof for me.

I have to wait for the third Lechery album to tell if they have disappointed me or not... But this long silence before that album is some kind of a disappointment, too.

This is a really tough thread topic...
I guess I would have to say Ronnie James Dio; even though I don't love "Sacred Heart" or "Angry Machines" I can't say I was disappointed by them. Plus, considering that he recorded my 6 favorite albums of all time, Rainbow's "Rising" and "Long Live Rock and Roll," Black Sabbath's "Heaven And Hell" and "The Mob Rules," and "Holy Diver" and "The Last In Line," it would probably have been impossible for him to do anything to disappoint me.
Otherwise, the next closest would have to be Gamma Ray. Kai Hansen and company have been nothing if not consistent in my opinion, and it's a good thing I love them because otherwise I would probably hate them. ; )

Not a band, but an artist. I would say that Wolf Hoffmann's solo stuff has never disappointed me. He can always bring something special to the classical pieces.
