UDO was held back for many years by sk and his -tor bullsh*t. the band was writing crap songs and management has also treated them like a bar band imho.

I wonder what would've been with the band if Stefan didn't stop producing UDO albums and Fitty didn't become the main co-writer of the band.

One band that I am really a huge fan of, though might not be everyone's cup of tea around here, especially if you are not a fan of progressive or power metal, is Angra. I really think given the success of bands like Dream Theater and to a lesser extent DragonForce (entirely due to "Guitar Hero"), it's a crime that Angra are not any bigger than they have gotten.
"Temple Of Shadows" is an all-time classic album in my book, and their new album "Secret Garden" is my favorite album that's come out this year so far (yes, I like it more than "Decadent"; it's a little bit comparing apples and oranges though so I could say that they are even in terms of objective qualities). Tomcat, in my opinion, Fabio Lione's performance on the new Angra album is better than anything that I have heard him do with Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire.
Kiko Loureiro is a virtuoso guitarist, and Rafael Bittencourt is pretty d**n good too. Felipe Andrioli is from a technical standpoint, one of the 2 or 3 best bassists in metal right now, and their new drummer Bruno Valverde is a prodigy, ably filling into the huge shoes of Aquiles Priester.
If the rumors are true about Kiko being hired to play lead guitar on the new Megadeth album, I hope that this will lead to some increased notoriety for Angra (and not lead to the end of Angra).

i can totally understand why you like them doc. although they are not for me, there are some days when their music hits me just right and end up listening to a lot of their songs.

Anything he did with Rhapsody? Really? Containing this?

I think so, Tomcat. His performance on the new Angra album showcases a lot more than just his operatic dynamic. He has such a great emotional range and also can really sound great even when the music gets really heavy and darker. Some power metal singers, where the music is generally upbeat, don't do very well when asked to sing over darker, dropped-tuning riffs (in my opinion at least). The new Angra album shifts between darker, heavy progressive metal to more traditional though very heavy power metal and everything in between, and I think Fabio does it all well, which frankly I did not expect from him based on Rhapsody/Rhapsody Of Fire.
