It is sad that you don't like it. I find it the same kind of way as Steelhammer.

It might be just because of my bad english skills, but for me the thank you writing Fitty has written sounds little bit like goodbye letter. What do you think? You know also that bizarre thing with that swedish guy claiming to be asked to be bassplayer of U.D.O. So these two things kind of fit together.

Probably even worse than Decadent and that one was a proper disappointment. There's a chance it'll get better with time, but so far the only song that I really like is Tongue Reaper - just because it's so frigging badass and in-your-face. In the Heat of the Night is good, Rising High too, but that's about it. I also like The Way, but that's just because it's a ballad and I always like Udo's ballads - it's definitely not one of his strongest ones. Secrets in Paradise was way more powerful and Words in Flame was a much better closer for an album. Hungry and Angry is so bad I don't ever wanna listen to it again. I have to write a review about the album for an Estonian newspaper, so I'm gonna give it a few more listens because I really wouldn't like to be too harsh with U.D.O. (after all, I frigging love the guys), but there's very little to love here. Even Udo's voice is fading, he actually mentions that in The Way. Andrey's guitar playing saves a little, because he's really on fire, but the lyrics are terrible even for U.D.O.'s standards. I'll probably keep listening to Tongue Reaper though, that one is awesome. Maybe I'll change my mind in time, but I highly doubt it. Man, I gave you my like though you dislike Steelfactory. My ask is just to place here your reveiw in tha paper which you are to write up.

I still don't have my own copy (they didn't have the digipak version in the recordshop and I didn't want to buy the simple CD because that had two songs less) so I had to download the booklet and read the acknowledgements. He says 21 years have passed and it is time to say thank you to his partners, friends and fans. Well, it sounds like a farewell.

Really sorry for that but to tell you the truth, my first impression was very similar. Didn't like this new album at all but then I have listened to it to good. I mean I listened to it so many times that it slowly turned to good Hopefully it'll open up for you, too

ok, after several listens, i think i've got a bit of a grip on this album. my over-all impression is that it's ok. the bass guitar and drums do absolutely nothing for me. everything with those just seems lazy. the guitar saves the day on this album for sure, but there is no doubt in my mind that they were going for the Accept glory days sound and style. there are so many Accept ripoffs on this album, it should be against the law! hahaha but at the same time, what would we expect after them coming off of 2+ years of touring under the dirkschneider name and playing "all accept-all the time"? actually, i think some of us were hoping for this exact thing to happen. that u.d.o. would make an accept sounding album. well, they did it! the vocal performance is good. the typical udo tricks, the laughing, heavy breathing, etc... but the lyrics are d**ned god-aweful again. very lazy lyric writing if you ask me. even stealing lyrics from many past accept songs as well as some u.d.o. songs. not impressed one single bit with the lyrics. there are a couple of songs that i have been skipping regularly now -a bite of evil - with the dogs on leads intro ripoff. but those d**ned gang vocal chorus reminds me of the dreaded -tor era. make the move - the living for tonight intro ripoff, probably has the worst lyrics on the album, which is saying something. udo trying to push these "tough guy" lyrics when his personality is clearly opposite of that, it just doesn't work for me. the devil is an angel - just when i was enjoying not having anymore dreaded "half-time breakdowns" in the songs, here it is! this song reminds me of a -tor era song. i don't know which one and i don't care to go back to that era and try to find it. hungry and angry - same guitar and tone as the song above. another dogs on leads / heaven is hell ripoff. super bad lyrics. get this off my stereo! songs that i really like - tongue reaper - a bit of energy and aggression in this song. thanks for that guys! keeper of my soul - i like feel of this song but can't stand the whoa-oa-oa parts. i wish they would've done that on guitar or keyboard or something. one heart one soul - we've heard this song somewhere too but i still like this version of it. hahaha maybe i'm just a sucker for these "united we stand, divided we fall" kind of songs. songs that are just "ok" to me are - in the heat of the night - fukk these lyrics. fukk these backup vocals. this seems like a -tor era leftover reject song. andrey's background guitars are cool though. with headphones you can really hear some of the little stuff he does that mixed way back there to fill the sound. good stuff. i like the guitar solo too. very tasteful. raise the game - this song could've been a lot better but it doesn't completely lose me. sounds like a black and white, or 24/7 era song with much better guitar work. cool guitar solo. blood on fire - ok. francesco's drumming probably could've rescued this song. rising high - the tv war / timebomb ripoff. lyrics are copy/paste from timebomb! haha still not a bad song. the guitar layering is really good. guitar solo friggin killer. pictures in my dreams - ok. eraser - good up-tempo song. rose in the desert - ok. can't stand those gang backup vocals. the way - decent "memories" song for udo. ok. what a hell of a night - good "happy" song. very 80's and i like that. so my overall impression is that this album doesn't suck by far. it's really pretty d**ned good. but other than maybe "make the move", there's really no catchy song, or hit song and i wish there was. it's miles above the -tor era but not quite up to the level of the first 4 albums. i think i'm just getting old and to the point of where not much impresses me anymore and that's my problem!

Thanks for the review, Magnus. I just cant say something definite about it right now. I think that I am to read it more and more and than after a couple days of reading I am to speak out my opinion about the review. Btw I think that your review of Decadent is not a inch worse than the review of Steelfactory. Probably we should make a thread : what review of Magnus is better : Decadent or Steelhammer. )) So , finally : thanks for awesome reading , John. Was pleased by it.

I love this new album of UDO. And I say it again: I do not find any weak song on the album. Some songs I like more than some others. I hope this new UDO album puts some energy to Wolf and Peter as well not to write lame stuff like was on their latest The Rise Of Chaos album.
I would even go this far: Udo and co have now made a better album than I never would have dreamed of them to be able to do anymore. Priest made a good album too this year, but UDO's album is ahead of them in every aspect!

I must say I love The Way song...nice melodies in that song! Maybe even the best UDO ballad ever.

I have had this cd. I try to listen to it everyday. I do not care for the drumming. The vocals are great because it is Udo. The songwriting leaves a lot to be desired, especially the lyrics. Most of the guitar work sounds like they were trying very hard to make a new Accept album with Wolf Hoffmann riffs and tones all over it. I still enjoy the cd though but I do not consider it as a serious contender compared to many other bands.
