I am just a little bit annoyed of the Finnish metal fans who are putting Tarja (the ex-singer of Nightwish) down. I just don't get it! The reason why Nightwish got so big was because of Tarja's extraordinary vocals in metal and now suddenly practically nobody doesn't respect that fact. You just have to have some special thing to make it big and for Nightwish it was Tarja's vocals. I am not saying that Tuomas is a bad composer but without Tarja Nightwish would not have got that big as they are now. There are lots of examples of the bands which are talented but are constantly struggling to even have a record deal because they lack one special thing. I just would want people to have at least some respect toward Tarja in this Nightwish saga...

I wish all the best to Tarja! She is one of the best woman singers... But I think that nightwish will continue without Tarja stronger than ever! (At least I hope...)

Yeah, that can happen! Now they are a well known band so they have a solid ground now. I am just hoping they would be more metal in the future than now.

Yeah, I hope so too - all the best to Tarja and to the band, hopefully we'll get to hear the best of them both!

Yeah she did sing very well! I was a big fan of Nightwish to their Over The Hills mini-cd where Tarja sang in that operatic way. I think her way of singing suited Nightwish of that era perfectly. ;D I am also wondering how I am able to like her singing and Udo's singing. Udo's singing is not a peculiar thing but liking of Tarja's is. I don't even like opera music or the classical way of singing normally but in Nightwish that worked very well. I don't know if you John ever saw NW live?! She didn't just sing the songs but she also "acted" the songs, i.e. put her heart and soul into the singing of NW songs. That was great! I also had a chance to talk to Tarja and Tuomas when their career was at the beginning. With Tuomas I talked for a quite long time when they played in a little town called Nokia and offered him a whiskey.

I don't like classical style of singing either, but Tarja is an exception. Apparently she just knows how to sign!

There's only two nightwish songs that I like. "Dark chest of wonders" and "I wish I had an angel" the rest of their stuff is unlistenable...

I myself haven't liked their two latest ones Once and Century Child. I think those ones are commercial (censored) ;D

Dimmu Borgir makes symphonic black metal and they do have great playing skills, but first of all their singer is awful and the music has some good elements, but it is way too dark for me. 3 Inches Of Blood would be great, but I don't like their singer. But they don't "howl" like Tarja. And Evanescence is just poop...*yug*

I think the singer of Running Wild isn't very good. But the band still rocks!!
