Agree John... Here we have one official lenguage (Spanish) and other co-official lenguages (3). Depending of the place you live, you must (or should) learn the one which is co-official in your region (like your states there)... depending of the grade of mental retard that have the politicals who govern that region... It's sad, but there are lot of problems because of that. So I wish I could speak spanish anywhere in Spain... but some retarded people do not look it well; you know, retardeds everywhere

Yeah, catalan is almost the same language! Spain is not a nation-state, you guys have other nations with yourself since the begining! As for the USA, that country was always supported by the immigrants from everywhere, and remember, originally a lot of territory from the USA was the part of Mexico back in the days. The real americans are in reservations, where the immigrants and settlers put them to! Every other american is an immigrant from somewhere! England, Scottland, Africa, Ireland, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, France, Germany, Netherlands... the list is infinite.

Yes Mika, that's a co-oficcial lenguage. The only compulsory to all citizens in Spain to know and the right to use it; is the Spanish lenguage.
I do not have to learn it because I do not live in that region... Some retarded people speak to you only in catalán knowing that you do not understand it... bunch of sorth-sighted guys. But well... there is freedom to use it; I respect that... but I do not respect to those retardeds who use it knowing you can't understand it... poor guys; I feel sorry about them... short-sighten people...

Well... catalán is more or less easy to understand; but there are some words or phrases that are not equal to spanish... so sometimes it is complicated. I have family there and they have respect to people that do not know that co-official lenguage and speak spanish as well... people with brain at the end About the portuguese... it is similar to one of our co-official lenguages (gallego) so it is quite pretty easy to understand them. In the opposite side... it is hard for them to understand us LOL !!! Gallego (Galicia Region) it is pretty easy to learn and understand. Euskera (Euskadi Region - Vasque Country) it is impossible to understand... and hard to understand. Catalán (Cataluña Region) - is in the middle way between gallego and esukera; it is quite complicated.
