Maybe, or it will means the end of the band? I hope not! I showed some Dominator songs a few days ago for my friend who like these modernized metal (indrustal, core etc.), and they liked it, better than the old and nice songs (Mean Machine for example). So thats why U.D.O.'s new style records sold well, and I think it will continues...

so the tide will turn. us older fans will be moved away by the sound in order for the new fans to take the torch and move on with the band. well, the younger people do spend a lot more money on music than people my age. i can understand it from that point of view i guess. you'd never catch my band doing that though. but then again, we're not doing this for a living either.

I hope the new record won't be a commercial success. That way they could realize they are in the wrong direction. Yeah, who are these idiots who buy these albums. exept us, I mean ;D Feels like were dealing with a kid at my workplace here "no, dont encourage him, he'll only get worse"

Oh yes,,,I am an idot but not in the future starting from June 2011. However I think people who are not devoted fans of UDO bought Dominator and I do hope they won't buy the new one.

I think that young fans will listen to young bands and not a band like UDO. If UDO will lose his old fans they will lose everything . Really!!! Young People who like modern music listen to young bands playing this kind of music and not some old guy who were famous back in the 80's! This is why Motley Crue failed with the " Generation Swine" album some years ago!!!! People wants some metal from UDO and not some kind of modern S...t and computerized instruments!

I agree with Wolf here. I actually think that the sales of "Dominator" were probably bolstered by diehards and not new fans. Remember back in the 90s in the States when "grunge" became huge and all of a sudden you had bands like Skid Row putting out albums with "a more modern edge." The only band that was able to successfully sell out..err...capitalize on that trend was Metallica with "Load" and "Re-Load". Then, you also had bands like Danzig and W.A.S.P. putting out albums that were heavily industrial ("Blackaciddevil" and "K.F.D.", respectively) that bombed commercially. If people like heavy industrial-sounding music, they will buy Rammstein, or even Rob Zombie; they won't buy U.D.O., so I think the biggest risk Udo and Stefan K are taking here is alienating their real fanbase, who may just say, 'hmmm, maybe we'll listen to all of our old Accept and U.D.O. albums, not buy "REV-Raptor" or see your shows (except for us in the States who wouldn't be able to see you live anyway since you never come here) and will instead spend our money on new Accept material and concerts.'

I know that for example in Finland there are young fans of UDO, teenagers, as there are teenager Accept fans. For example it were young people who voted at 80srocks.net Mean Machine album as the best UDO album in the 80s and who also voted BTTW album as the third best album from the 80s.
There's the 80s band boom in Finland, it has been here for some 5 years or so.
Another thing apart from youngsters. When there were the ice-hockey World Champs last year, the national broadcasting company in Finland played UDO's Dominator song on TV when the final was on. So it is not only the die-hard fans who are/were thirilled about UDO.

As I was just out walking the dog, and I was thinking.
What if most of the diehard U.D.O. fans out there actually don't mind the direction the band is going in musically? After all, as everyone has been saying, sales of the last two studio albums have done well. Those of us on the forum here may just be part of a displeased and vocal minority. Perhaps the majority of U.D.O. fans are just happy that the band is still going and puts out an album every couple of years and will go out and buy it just because it's U.D.O.
Just a thought...

If thinking about the reviewers who are impartial or that kind of way; they appraised Dominator album. So I would say that the metal fans in general are interested in UDO again.

I actuaòlly liked KFD by Wasp . I think it was a really angry album with a lot of kick ass attitude despite the modern sound. I also liked Brutal Planet by alice cooper. It was a great album. The sound was modern but the melodies and the songwriting were just great!

So it is not only the die-hard fans who are/were thirilled about UDO. Perhaps, Mika, but I would argue that those young fans are not representative of most young music fans, many of whom will buy whatever is being played on the radio or what other media outlets like pop magazines, TV shows, etc. tell them to buy. Maybe I'm just coming from a different perspective because that's how it seems to be in the States. Also, many of you may recall the Megadeth album, "Risk" (a lot of fans of Mustaine choose to forget that album). Well, the NHL used "Crush Em'" as a theme song back during the '99 hockey season. I guess it made some money in royalties for Mustaine but the album tanked commercially and led to Megadeth getting kicked off of their major label, Capitol. So, just because the Finnish broadcasting company played "Dominator" during the broadcast doesn't necessarily reflect the overall popularity of the song amongst the hockey-viewing public that they were targeting. Just some food for thought...

I'm just saying that it didn't do what Blackie said in interviews at the time what it was going to do in terms of sales, helping W.A.S.P. regain the shock-rock crown from Marilyn Manson. In fact, it did the exact opposite.
