Everyone, Unlike my many other posts, this is a serious one and it is with a very heavy heart that I write it.
On Christmas eve about 5:00PM our good friend and neighbor Ty Kachanuk was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident on his way to his parents house for dinner then to go to church with us. He misjudged a turn and ended up breaking his back and left elbow. He has no feeling below his chest. He is probably 22 years old and has 2 very young daughters. He has undergone major back surgery. They cut him open from his neck to his butt to try to repair damage. It is still too early to tell if he will get feeling back to his body or ever walk again. This rips me up terribly and I’d ask that you put Ty and his parents Lori and Mark in your prayers. They are usually very strong people but this has brought them all, understandably, to their knees.
Tiffanie and I went to see him tonight and he is in good spirits but very afraid of his future and his ability to work and support his family. Ty was no novice on a motorcycle. He’s been riding almost as long as he’s been able to walk. He told us that he was actually going to slow for a curve to allow the bike to take it smoothly, and went wide and the bike slipped on the white line. He landed on his face and was drug by the bike into a chain-link fence where he was pinned by the motorcycle which had landed on top of him. Luckily a passer-by drove past about 5 minutes later and saw him and called police for help. He was air-evac’d to John C. Lincoln hospital in Phoenix where he is now.
Thank you very much for praying for him and adding him to your prayer list at your church. This young man needs all the prayers he can get right now. He’s very strong and hopefully will be able to keep the desire and positive attitude through this very difficult time for him.
