So here it is Joe. My review of Accept cd:s. This is only the part one. And this review is how I experience these records now. Something about the points 1 - 4 (=song isn't good), 5 = average, 6 = pretty okay, 7 = good, 8 = marvellous, 9 = almost perfect , 10 = perfect.
I didnt' want to give points +, 1/2, -. If the song is worth 9,5, I give a ten. But if it is 9+, I only give 9.
ACCEPT - ACCEPT
1.Lady Lou 7/10
It is a good opener.
2. Tired Of Me 9/10
Nice guitar playing on this song.
3. Seawinds 8/10
This could also be a Scorpions ballad, but this is good.
4. Take Him In My Heart 9/10
This has a good chorus and I think this one had hit potential. This song also has the lyrics: She didn't go school. ;D
5. Sounds Of War 8/10
Hypnotic song. Its atmosphere fits into the song title perfectly.
6. Free Me Now 7/10
One of the fast Accept songs. People didn't even know the term speed metal yet.
7. Glad To Be Alone 1/10
Arghh, this is torture. This sounds like the Scorpions did during Fly To The Rainbow album.
8. That's Rock'n Roll 8/10
This is fast Accept song again. This song contains tight playing so typical to accept. Solo is funny, but nice one. I like Udo's using of voice in this song. It varies from aggressiviness to a clean voice.
9. Helldriver 5/10
This reminds the Scorpions In Trance and Fly To The Rainbow era.
10. Street Fighter 3/10
*yawn*
ACCEPT - I'M A REBEL
1. I'm A Rebel 10
Bounding drums makes me glad and Stefan is using the cymbals marvellously on this one. Choir vocals are great!
2. Save Us 10
I really like the parts where Baltes sings. Hey, this was my first Accept record, so this has emotional value.
3. No Time To Lose 10
One of the best "heavy metal" ballads.
4. Thunder & Lightning 7
This one is quite heavy and drums are loud sounding. Guitar solo is great. Something in this song disturbs me.
5. China Lady 8
This song is good. Something missing, though.
6. I Wanna Be No Hero 6
The bass playing reminds me of Abba.
7. The King 10
Great ballad! With two ballads of this record they ruled over Scorpions of making ballads.
8. Do It 10
This has a raw guitar (considering the year was 1980) and bounding drums, marvellous! Guitar solo is great. Actually there aren't many guitar solos on Accept songs that would be bad.
ACCEPT - BREAKER
1. Starlight 10
An Accept classic, perfect song in every way.
2. Breaker 10
Great, great...perfect song, but it really comes alive when it is played live.
3. Run If You Can 9
This contains tight playing which is a trademark for Accept.
4. Can't Stand The Night 9
Udo is a master in expressing sadness and misery with his voice. His voice fits also into hard and heavy songs as we all know in this forum.
5. S.O.A.B. 9
Hah, hah, haa! Killer but better when played live. ;D
6. Burning 9
This is a good rocker. Rock'n roll, man! This is the song they used in '83 shows. During it Stefan lighted the guitar on fire and Wolf hit the guitar with a big axe.
7. Feelings 9
Typical Accept rhythm, but slower one than say on Restless And Wild.
8. Midnight Highway 10
An Accept classic!
9. Breaking Up Again 9
This song contains fine use of cymbals, great vocals and sad atmosphere. Well, it would be stupid if this kind of song would be hilarious as far as the atmosphere is concerned. This is the softest Accept song ever.
10. Down And Out 9
This song has a nice beginning and aggressive singing.
ACCEPT - RESTLESS AND WILD
1. Fast As A Shark 10
In 1982 this was really something and still is! No thrash band can achieve this kind of hardness and energy. In addition this is a melodic song, okay let's say the guitar solo is melodic.
2. Restless And Wild 10
The guitarwork in this song is so typical to Accept along with the other trademarks. I think they invented this type of guitar playing, at least I hadn't ever heard this before.
3. Ahead Of The Pack 10
Yeah, they were ahead of the pack and still are.
4. Shake Your Heads 10
I can't say anything about this, it is just perfect. As simple as that!
5. Neon Nights 100000, uups, 10 not hundredthousand.
Everything is in order in this song. This has a nice intro, vomiting cow, yeah... This really is an atmospheric song. This is a piece of art, no question about it! How is this possible? One anecdote: Metalheart once said to me "and the night will be neon", when we were so thrilled about that UDO plays this one on Thunderball tour. ;D
6. Get Ready 10
How do you compose a rocker? Listen to this song very carefully and you'll know. Perfect and a little bit more. Aah!, and then there is this fine drumming, simple but powerful. Then the guitar riff comes over it from left speaker, after that the 2nd guitar comes from the right speaker: and h-ell yeah, we have a twin guitar attack! Then Stefan really starts the song with his drumming and Peter comes along. This is a masterpiece to show how to make the song grow from the start. This has so tight playing! ;D Even my brother likes this one, although he dislikes metal.
7. Demon's Night 7
The weakest song on this album. All in all this isn't actually weak, but if you consider this one to other songs on this album, then it is weak.
8. Flash Rockin' Man 9
After 2.30 this song has its best moments. There is really nothing wrong on this one.
9. Don't Go Stealing My Soul Away 10
This one is refreshing to hear on this sheer metal attack album. I really like the solo and the chorus.
10. Princess Of The Dawn 10
Piece of art! Piece of art! ;D
This is just my review. So I think there are thousands of opinions...
