So , friends, I have read a review if «Game over» album. «New album of German POWER METAL band U.D.O.» It was strange as we always thought of Accept beeing a true heavy metal band and later UDO as their successors. Wnat do Yiu think : is it right to cal UDO a power metal band today? There are discussions about ACCEPT being Power or Heavy Metal on a Hungarian website, too. I remember that in the 80s ACCEPT were called Power Metal being more agressive than let's say Iron Maiden or Saxon. In that era Power Metal meant melodic but agressive music. Later the meaning of the name slowly changed and today it means more melodic, more epic music with fantasy and sci-fi lyrics. So for old fashioned guys like me it is correct to say .U.D.O. and ACCEPT are Power Metal bands.

I would call Accept and UDO traditional metal, just like I call Priest as traditional metal. Then again with nowadays standards Accept - Land Of The Free is a perfect example of a power metal song.

i'd also consider both bands to be traditional heavy metal, or as they like to label themselves - "Teutonic Metal".

In «Headbanger’s journey” film they saiid that heavy metal was based on so-called «wrong quinta” which makes music agressive and mean. Thats what I like about classic Accept. Power metal , or «haPPy metal”, is not so acceptable . But reading that review I came to cinclusion that UDO today is a power metal band partially. Such guitars of UDO like Mathias Dieth and Andrey Smirnov are power metal master minds, but as for Accept and traditional heavy metal bands to me would better stay on their roots.
Well, I can agree , we can call Accept «teutonic” ( deutschen, german) metal.

i don't agree with udo at all about the "kids and guns" theory. it has absolutely zero percent to do with increased gun ownership in America. it has everything to do with hate and mental illness. the government and media are behind the hate and dividing the people and people are falling for it. they've forgotten that it's us (the people) against them (the government), it's not the people against the people. the only thing that gets rid of a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. i choose to keep all of my guns and will always acquire more. thank you. That's the difference between Europeans and Americans. In Europe we don't have any guns and no problem with mass shootings. The only thing that gets rid of a bad guy with a gun, is not giving the gun to the bad guy in the first place. If you try to explain this to an American, they simply can't grasp that idea. So it's only logical that Udo (who's German as you know) has a different opinion than you. U.D.O. and Accept have both had a lot of pacifist themes in their lyrics throughout the years. Anyway I really like Game Over, at times it reminds me of Faceless World which is one of my favourite albums from U.D.O. Definitely better than Steelfactory that was a bit of a disappointment for me. Game Over has some new heavy metal anthems, a surprisingly good ballad (Don't Wanna Say Goodbye is really emotional, way better than The Way from the last album) and even the AC/DC type song (Kids and Guns) works this time. I guess it could be a bit shorter as I still (after 3 months or so) don't know all the songs by name, but it sounds good and strong. I like that it has a different vibe from everything else U.D.O. has done in the last 10 years or so. It definitely lacks aggression, as many others here have pointed out, but I don't really miss it this time.

^Agree with you on both things, guns and Game Over! album. “If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.” And if you have a gun you can easily see people as targets. And as far as Game Over! goes I consider it better than SteelFactory which album in my eyes is a big copycat. I see The Way much better than I Don't Wanna Say Goodbye though

After finally getting my physical copy of "Game Over" (yes, I know, over a year late to the party), I am developing my fully formed opinion. As a preface, let me say that I am in the extreme minority here in that I absolutely love "We Are 1."
For me, if I were to consider my enjoyment of this album and my general opinion of it relative to other albums in the U.D.O., catalog, for me it is a step down from "Steelfactory." It would be somewhere in the middle of the pack, definitely above the "TOR"-era albums (which for me are the nadir of Udo's output with any band) and perhaps a little above "Solid" but a tad below "Steelfactory" and "Holy," (those two albums I would put maybe somewhere between the 50th and 70th percentiles if I had to be specific).
My general take is that I don't like the production of "Game Over," especially the snare drum trigger which sounds too mechanical and artificial to me, and the rhythm guitar tones/sounds, which sound too thin, overly compressed and not heavy enough. I definitely like the production of "Steelfactory" and "We Are 1" better just in terms of sonics and tones of the band.
But after several spins, I do like the album overall, but only a little bit above meh. I do especially enjoy the guitar solos; Andrey and Dee shine throughout the album. My favorite songs are "Like A Beast" (though not a fan of the lyrics or the intro at all), "Unbroken," "Marching Tank," "Midnight Stranger," and "Metal d**nation." I enjoy "Prophecy" (music though not lyrics so much) though it sounds a bit too similar to "Basta Ya" from "Steelhammer" to my ears. The rest of the songs don't stand out very much for me. Don't get me wrong; they're still better than 90% of popular music of any genre for me, but just don't stand out or are memorable in any particular way.
As for Udo's vocal performance, it is Udo. You know what you're going to get, both the good, the bad and the ugly. The synthetic sounding choruses and backing vocals are understandable in light of the COVID-related restrictions impacting production.
Here's hoping that the meaning of the title "Game Over" isn't that it's the final album for him because for me, I would hope that he would go out on a higher note than this album. Just my 2 cents...

I am in minority that i adore Manuela's voice and singing.

Haven’t listened GO for a while, but I feel like I can agree 100%!
And about We are one, I love it! It was together with Bonfire’s Fistful of fire the highlight of the covid-times.
