i got my cd yesterday. i ripped it to my car mp3 player and now to my pc at work. i'll do a song by song review soon. my first impression after listening to the first 6 songs on the drive to work is that mark and christopher pretty much outshine everyone on this album. christopher especially. he's clearly the best drummer Accept has ever had.

ok, here's my review of The Rise Of Chaos
Die By The Sword - Killer opening guitar riff, then the song goes into a slower version of the same guitar riff as Revolution from the Stalingrad album. that's kind of disappointing. i wish there were more backup vocals on the chorus. guitar solo is ok. nice that wolf wrote a dual guitar part so that Uwe will have something to play live. i like that the drums drive this song. it's the saving grace for me.
Hole In The Head - boring intro. the fact that the song goes into half-time during the chorus is kinda cool. the build up to the guitar solo is kinda cool. aggressive start to the solo! very cool.
The Rise Of Chaos - ok guitar intro. Christopher's drumming is great on this song. i like the different bass drum patterns and what he does in the breakdown before the guitar solo is really nice. the guitar solo extension is really cool too. i like the ending too.
Koolaid - ugh. this song starts out as so, um, not Accept. don't like this song much at all. when the vocals come in, it's just another Fall Of the Empire, Shadow Soldiers, Twist Of Fate, ... ok. eh, whatever. the solo is just "ok" too.
No Regrets - here's a song about Accept telling us how old they are. the drums really shine on this song. all the different patterns. once again, Christopher saves this song too. the guitar shows the potential for a dual solo during the live shows. i really do not like the 1/2 time breakdown at the end of the guitar solo though.
Analog Man - here's another song where Accept tells us how old they are. the lyrics are cool, and tell a kinda funny story, i just don't see it fitting Accept. i still kinda like the song though.
What's Done Is Done - boring intro. seems like a decent filler song. drums, of course, very good in this. forgetful guitar solo.
Worlds Colliding - decent intro. there's a lyric in this song that seems to sum up the whole album for me so far ... "same song, another rendition..." the solo is fun to listen to.
Carry The Weight - typical euro-metal intro. i like it. the drums, once again, are standing out as the highlight so far. cool chorus lyrics. words to live by. d**n, the drums kick so much a$$ on this song! finally a drummer that can drive the d**ned music! that was really lacking with SS. a lot of wolf's guitar solos are starting to sound the same on this album.
Race To Extinction - eh. the intro is fairly boring. the drums AGAIN make this song worth listening to so far. the solo is almost cool. i like the choruses.
ok, so overall, after what amounts to really just the first listen... i'll give this album a 6.5 out of 10. this is another album that doesn't live up to BOTN. that album set the bar so high, it may not be able to be topped.
the drums are easily the highlight of the album. i really wish i could get wolf, peter, or mark to send me just the drum mixes of this album. i could listen to that all day long. marks vocals also shine but there are no "stand-out" lines that make you really anticipate hearing them.
"the wolf show" seems to be running out of steam in my opinion. this version of Accept is really nothing more than a wolf hoffmann solo album with a great singer and now a great drummer. but the riffs and solos are really all starting to sound the same, not only on this album, but from album to album. i constantly heard guitar parts on this album that sound like slower or faster guitar parts from the other 3 albums. i wish wolf would let this be a band, with 5 different inputs instead of him doing everything. he has great musicians around him now, he should let go a little bit so we can hear what the band would sound like, instead of just what's in his head.
there are no really memorable songs on this album at all. a few parts, yes, but nothing that grabs your throat and makes you feel like you must listen to this album or this song from the album.
There is not one memorable bass guitar line on the whole album.
if it weren't for the exceptional drumming on this album, i would call it the most boring of this new era.
i'm glad i have this album, but i'm sure i won't be listening to it much. it'll come up on my mp3 players though because i usually listen in random mode, but i most likely won't be able to tell if the songs are from this album or BR or Stalingrad. i know for a fact none of them would've made the cut on BOTN, even the fingernails on the chalkboard song called The Abyss is better than anything on this album. i don't know if i'm just getting old and not easily impressed anymore, or if the album just needs more listens. only time will tell.

I have noticed that the new Accept album grows or opens up the more listening sessions one has. So in other words the album is not that simple as it sounds for the firt 10 listening sessions. In my mind No Regrets is the best song on the album. Because that song is really the kind of metal which to me represents Accept as the leading metal band. It reminds me of Slaves To Metal and Predujice. The drums and lead guitar work really well together in that song. Koolaid and Analog Man remind me of AC/DC rather than Accept.

Btw, this opinion looks interesting and i gotta place in into Russian accept fanatics site. I agree, drums give accept a new touch. To me Christopher reminds me the style of Michael cartellone with his more modern metal approach. Major and driving style. That's why i like predator very much. To me new approach of accept with mark got some american style and i like it. Not so deep attitude in vocal comparing to udo but american burning feels good to me. Lile you have a beer in a bar talking to a common guy who appears to be a great dude and telling you stories from his average life and it fells like real unbreakable truth of life, values for real. Recently I read interview with Wolf where he commented drum stuff. He said that Stephen K may seem to be nothing special but it would be not right. As Stephen is a drummer who plays guitar, he thinks like a giutar player while drumming. That makes his manner very comfortable for axe-men and it makes music more integral. So to me i like all the drummers of the band, though i bet on Schwarzenegger, sorry, schwarzmann. His aggression and speed is what i like the most.

You are d**n right Mika....many songs are growers and I was about told John not too hurry with a review so soon....too late now. At least this album has something "strong": John got to appreciates a little bit The Abyss

hahahaha i wanted to give a very first impression. i'll do another one after i listen to it a few times. although it may be tough to find the time to play that cd again as i'm really into listening to a french(?!?!ahhhhh?!?!?!) band called Gojira. it's a much more aggressive metal. that style seems to be controlling me right now. but that could fade away quickly, as it has in the past.

yeah, mark did do really great on this album, and so did christopher. my opinion is that wolf and peter dropped the ball on it. but hey, it's new music from our favorite band so let's enjoy it!

It's No. 27. in Hungary. Blind Rage was much better. Still haven't bought it because I simply cannot fall in love with it.
