so yesterday i thought i had a day off from work because it's a national holiday here. but noooooooooooo. sometime during the night my water heater decided to start leaking and leaked untold gallons of water into the big room of my studio, underneath my $5,000 studio drum kit!!!!, into the walls, into the garage.... so i spent the whole day sucking water out of all of those areas and drying and replacing drywall and insulation. today i'm rebuilding the stand for the new hot water heater to sit on. i only have about 3 or 4 more hours to get it done before the guy gets here. i usually wouldn't be online at a time like this but my body is tired and sore and needs a 15 minute break!!!
if i was a renter, i'd just call the landlord and say "hey, the water heater leaked all over the place" and be done with it!!

From the other hand a renter has monthly butt-hurt to pay the rent .
To prevent such situations in future it's possible to use sensor on the floor that commands a system to turn the water off if leaking.

I myself experience such things since I've been a homeowner There's always something to go wrong Sorry for that John. Hope the damage is not too big and insurance pays.

well d**n. since i replaced the bad water heater, we finally got that up and running last night. an hour later, i went into my studio only to find more water in there again!!! now i also have a leak under my slab somewhere!!! so i just off the phone with the insurance company and they are going to send someone out to detect it, find and hopefully fix it. holy crap, things are just getting worse!
