The title song "RevRaptor" starts with this line :
"Semi-Solid Servo Mechanism..."
How do you pronounce the word "semi"?

I learnt it as "SEM-EE",that why I asked it from you native speakers ,because I wasn't sure about it ! I'm still uncertain,...wait for more people to vote ! Let's see the result ...

When talking in Czech I pronounce it sem-ee but in English it should be probably sem-eye, so I voted for sem-eye.

We karate guys use the terms semi-contact, no-contact, full-contact to describe if the punches and kicks can reach the partner or not in fighting. We always pronounce it "sem-ee". Plus I asked Luna (her English is far better than mine cause she has learnt everything in English since her childhood) and she also said it's "sem-ee". But if John says it's sem-eye then we have to accept it as it is.
It's sometning like this line in a (non .U.D.O.) song: "There was a distance between you and I". An Englishman wold say it's wrong since you have to say "you and me" - but in the US it's OK like it is.

well, it is pronounced both ways here in the u.s. too, it's just that where i come from in ohio, we pronounce it sem-eye. but some words such as semicolon are pronounced sem-ee-colon and semicircle is usually pronounced sem-ee-circle. those are a couple of exceptions that i can think of right away. it really just depends on what part of the country a person grew up in.

Well thank God have found the main culprit, the main enemy on which to write off all the sins and labels. All I can say is: it isn't nice to speak badly about the people in Accept or the people who love the both bands (Accept & UDO) or who love Accept. By doing so there will always be bad blood.

talked to an english teacher last night. if the word "semi" is attached to another word as in "semi-colon" or "semiconductor" are pronounced "sem-EE. if the word stands alone, as in the word for the truck, then it's sem-EYE. as usual with english, there are plenty of exceptions of course!
