Hello, everybody!
Do you guys know about who really wrote (music wise) some of that early material that was credited to the entire band? I read somewhere that "Living for tonight" was written by Stefan and that there was always two songwritting teams within the band: Peter & Wolf/Udo e& Stefan. Could you add something on that?
Cheers! :-)

I think there really was two camps in writing the songs. No one is that stupid that give credits to all members if they do not compose the songs.

Actually Mika, it's pretty well acknowledged that this is what Black Sabbath Mk I did all of the time. Tony Iommi wrote all of the riffs and melodies, and Geezer Butler wrote all of the lyrics, but for songwriting credits, the entire band including Ozzy and Bill Ward were credited. Both Tony and Geezer said in interviews in the past that they did this to avoid business-related squabbles (amazing that this arrangement didn't work out, huh? ). Now, as for Accept, it seems from various interviews and listening to the music that Wolf, Peter, and Stefan K seemed to write at least the majority of the music, perhaps the vast majority. Alas, the only people who really know are Udo, Stefan K, Wolf, Peter, Gabi, and probably to a lesser extent Herman and Jorg Fischer.

IF there had been two camps of song writting and composing the music, what was Deaffy's role about ? I always thought She wrote everything !

i think deaffy had her/his most important part with writing the lyrics for the band. she did this also on the first 4 U.D.O. albums.

And I think everyone knows that Udo himself has wrote songs for other bands, too, in the 90's. psychdoc: if you look at the credits of Predator album, this is the first time the whole band hasn't compose all the songs together as a team. Run Through The Night and Take Out The Crime are composed by Stefan and Udo, then there are songs by Wolf and Peter. This also shows on the quality of the songs, when the whole band has composed stuff, it shows on the quality. I don't care what people say, I only trust on the credits.

I pretty much never trust the song-writing credits because politics are almost always involved in the final credit assignment. In the case of Sabbath, Bill Ward has acknowledged that Tony and Geezer wrote everything until Ronnie James Dio was in the band, and then Tony wrote the riffs and collaborated with Ronnie on the vocal melodies while Ronnie took over the lyrics from Geezer. Like I said, the only ones who know the truth are the artists themselves as well as the album producers and anyone else who was intimately involved in the creation of the albums.
