Hey, guys just listen to Dieth playing Fast As A Shark from the bootleg from FW tour. He couldn't play the solo right. Stefan and Igor can do that. So I do not have any fears that UDO II couldn't play any of the older stuff. Even some of the Accept tunes UDO plays better (heavier) than Accept. Breaker, Flash Rockin' Man, Fast As A Shark and Midnight Highway are such songs.
And for example on Mission No X tour Heart Of Gold and Trip To Nowhere were excellent live versions. HOG even better than in the Dieth days. Dieth's greatness is established only on composing with Udo and NOT on live gigs.
Just watch the Timebomb tour gig from youtube: We want It Loud has a really strange solo, the Overloaded tune is really strange on that gig too. Maybe he had the feeling right on live gigs, but the playing was full of mistakes. That's why the UDO I never released any live cd/dvd:s.
When composing with Udo, Dieth was excellent. When composing alone he sucked ( Just listen to that Ape record).
So, I miss Dieth only on studio albums when composing together with Udo. I do not miss his live playing.

No wonder many of us want to hear the old good stuff instead. Absolutely true Juho! But I'm still afraid that those old classics will be butchered versions when played by this lineup. For example I really don't like the solos of They Want War and Animal House played by Igor... And I ain't sure if he can play the solo of Powersquad or any other Dieth tunes... Unfortunately you're on to something there my friend

Didn't you, Juho, as I recall like the Igor's solo on They want War far better than the original? Ps. Listen to the In The Darkness from the live 2010 and compare it to the hideous version from 1991.

That's right, I did, but so far that has been one of the only solos that I've liked by the guy and I've seen the band live many times during the past 10 years.

But for example on Fast As A Shark there aren't any mistakes...not on Breaker either, not on Midnight Highway either or not on Cry Soldier Cry either...the list is almost endless. Another fine good example of the great solo is on In The Darkness 2010, better than Mr. Dieth could do on live occasion.
In that I agree that when Igor makes his long guitar solo that sucks big time. But if he follows the notes then there is no problem. However I can see that may be the problem too, that there is no suprise aspect at all.

It still looks good even though one of my fave tracks is now #10: Don't Look Back. I would so much like to hear that tune. That is simply my fave of the fast tunes by UDO and they have never played it. That's a big mistake!

Don't understand the success of They Want War and Heart of Gold... Two overplayed trax... Me either, but then again if someone in Finland wasn't on 2006 tour, they didn't play They Want War there. Heart Of Gold wasn't played in 2007 nor 2011 either. Even though I've heard them, there are people who didn't. So I think it is those people who have voted for them. They've have played Animal House almost every time and that's why you can't find that song there. I myself wonder why people haven't voted for Don't Look Back which they haven't played ever as far as I know. Well, maybe people prefer mid tempo tunes by UDO then. And Future Land should be on top 3 songs, but it isn't.

Sure. They must play Don't Look Back and FutureLand Alone those tracks would fulfill the expectations if they are cool and not butchered versions.

I am like fifty-fifty...I've seen (youtube) Igor to play more difficult AC/DC guitar solos brilliantly. Just hoping he won't improvise, then we would be LOST. ;D
