Here's a review in French or in funny English. But the result speaks for itself: 6,5/10 points.

I love this comment Who or what is the „Rev Raptor“? Stefan: «Rev Raptor» again is an artificial word. “Rev” is short for revolution and here it means revolutions of a motor for example. But of course it can also mean revolution or revolt, in this case indeed to be understood as dittology. “Raptor” in German means raptor as well and is both a predator bird and a prehistoric beast. In our case, “Rev Raptor” is a man-made, almighty and brutal machine creature that got out of control. Jeno

they have no clue what the hell it means. it's just another stupid made up word. blah blah blah blah flange, delay, chorus, reverb... blah blah blah, 317 tracks of backup vocals... blah blah blah fake drums... nothing is real... blah blah blah
i'm tired of it already. sick of it.

I In our case, “Rev Raptor” is a man-made, almighty and brutal machine creature that got out of control. It´s a very interesting theme to talk about, yes.....

i agree because u.d.o. hasn't touched the subject of machines taking over the world yet. except for those six albums from man and machine until present.

I think on Thunderball there was nothing about the machines.

I think on Thunderball there was nothing about the machines. you're probably right, but i just can't get past the production to listen to those albums too much!! when i hear tunes from that era like Black Heart, Hard To Be Honest, The Bullet And The Bomb... i just think of what could be... if it only had real instruments and better production.

true. solid is the first album that SS didn't play on. i'm sure he was so embarrassed! to be replaced by a d**ned machine, the very thing u.d.o. has been singing against for the last 10 + years!! plus, can you imagine doing interviews about how you "played" on the album when you know that it was all computerized?!@?! ugh. oh well, i'm sure he's MUCH happier now! he kicked more a$$ than a toilet seat on BOTN!

Actually, I think there's an interview with Stefan S. in which he says that the only album that he "actually played" on that has his name in the liner notes as the drummer is "Timebomb", and that "Mean Machine" and "Faceless World" were programmed (i.e., drum machine). If true, that means that only 2 of U.D.O.'s 13 albums actually have a real drummer playing the drums on them ("Animal House" being the other album). There is something different about the drum machine sound on "Mean Machine" and "Faceless World" though compared to U.D.O. Mk II albums that sounds less synthetic to my ears. It is interesting though we largely pan the fake drums of the U.D.O. Mk II albums but don't feel the same way about the fake drums on the Mk I albums. Regardless, I agree with you John that Stefan S. is undoubtedly much happier in his current situation.

I've always said that even Mean Machine has computerized drums... Didn't know that during the first era but since I read the interview with Stefan Schwarzmann it's clear to me. By the way... thanx to Shadowejm I've found the samples of all the 13 songs of the 13 th album of .U.D.O. here... Enjoy
