MEAN MACHINE IS THE BEST U.D.O. RELEASE 1989 BACK WHEN UDO ACTUALLY HAD SOME VOCAL RANGE Darren, just look at In The Darkness live stuff from this year and Udo does sing it a lot better than on Timebomb tour. Or watch the stuff from Hungary 2009 on youtube.

I rarely hear anyone comment about "catch my fall" ..... I really love this song Of course Darren, it´s a very good song!! "All I need is you tonight why don´t you caaaaaaall!!..." I love this chorus ;D This album has all kind of tracks, another I like very much is "Painted Love", very fast and furious, and in another side, "Sweet little child", where Udo sings really sweet and great!! ....Painted Love is my favorite u.d.o. song

They played Painted Love also on Timebomb tour in Hämeenlinna, but that song never got into that TV program, like was the case with Heart Of Gold. Those ones I do exactly remember them playing (Living On A Frontline and Break The Rules are obscure ones, maybe they played those too, maybe not ). BTW, I happen to have that Gothenburg show, thanks to you.

Do not forget a beautiful love song "Still in love with You" ..In fact this track had opened a number of unusual tracks in the end of albums... The only one on this album which has real drums

I've also been wondering about that! Related to Stefan Schwarzmann he only recorded drums for Timebomb. But if Kaufmann wasn't working with U.D.O. on Mean Machine (together with his d**ned programmed drums) ...hmmm...maybe Dodson was into programmed drums to

I've always thought that the drumsound (especially the bassdrum) was really strange on Russian Roulette...

A great album indeed. I myself adore it. Even wrote about it in the Metal album of the day section

I love Russian Roulette too, music-wise it represents to me a back to roots album.

I love Russian Roulette too, music-wise it represents to me a back to roots album. To me it isn't... To me it is a development to a more melodic direction... What roots do you mean exactly? Breaker? Balls? I think you don't mean Restless and Wild

Yes, "Russian Roulette" and also "Metal Heart" have melodic Hard Rockin´elements and songs, but also killer pure Heavy Metal tracks, that´s one of the 1000000000000000 good things from ACCEPT, the combination of various elements. From the begginning the had this Root Rock n Roll elements: "I´m a Rebel" (by George Alexander for AC/DC, all right), "Burning", "Midnight Highway", ""Save Us", "Get Ready"... and in MH and RR these elements were less "dirty and mean RnR" and more "Sofisticated Melodic Hard Rock"... this "evolution" finally destroyed them, when tried to sound like Dokken, Bon Jovi or Ratt... that´s because Udo went out, he wanted play HEAVY F*****G METAL!! And "Mean Machine" is a good showing of it. Then Udo also went more hard Rocking with "Faceless World", album that I REALLY LOVE, and then pure killer HEAVY METAL again with "Timebomb".... this is what make them so wonderful like musicians!!! His capacity to move over different styles alway in with Heavy Metal and Rock N Roll, that´s the way. The way ISN´T (foy my opinion) trying to sound like Alice in Chains or Nirvana, like "Predator" from ACCEPT, or like Rammstein, like U.D.O. sometimes
