dude, almost anything is a step forward from the thunderball / mission no. x era if you ask me. but seriously, there are much better songs on mastercutor and the rest of my opinion of it is old history!

For me:
1) Timebomb - It's U.D.O.'s 'Defenders of the Faith', what can I say? (I just sounded like Udo himself there, didn't I?) 2) No Limits - I know I'll get crap for this, but this album is VERY good. 'Back With a Vengeance' is a vicious classic, so is 'Way of Life', 'Freelance Man', 'Rated X', 'Manhunt'. It's just packed with killer songs. Not a popular opinion, I know, but it's mostly the production that sucks. 3) Mission No. X - Another unpopular opinion, from what I gather. To me, this is more of an Accept album than an U.D.O. record, much like Animal House. It's more 'riffy' than past or present U.D.O. Very energetic, just... a great all-around album. The re-recorded version of 'Way of Life' is killer, as well. 4) Thunderball - It's very fast, ('Thunderball', 'Pull the Trigger', 'Hell Bites Back') but it's got some great downpace headbangers, too ('The Arbiter', 'The Bullet and the Bomb'). Of all the U.D.O. albums, I think musically it's the closest in approach to Timebomb. It just suffers from the inclusion of 'Trainride In Russia' and 'Blind Eyes', which is why it isn't higher on my list. 5) Animal House - The Accept album that never was. I like everything on it aside from 'They Want War' (it just drags on a bit long). 6) Holy - This album is awesome. The title track is a total classic, and it has a few nice (if unremarkable) Speed Metal numbers. It just gets a little flabby near the middle and end. 7) Mean Machine - The main draw here is Deith putting his songwriting chops together. I also like that a few of the albums have some nice, complex-sounding drum parts going on in perfect time with the guitars. It's got some nice things going on, but... Udo's vocals have always sounded just a little... 'off' to me on this album for some reason. There's too much treble in the vocal mix, I think. 8) Dominator - This album is killer. I've mentioned it before in past threads. It's only lower down this list because all of the stuff higher on this list is even better, which speaks to U.D.O.'s overall quality. 9) Faceless World - For a polished, 'Pop Metal' album, it's very well executed. It's got some incredibly memorable songs. Quite underrated if you ask me. 10) Solid - It lives up to its title, and it has one or two standouts, but overall it's just that: Solid. 11) Mastercutor - I've said it before, I'll say it again. It sounds like something that should be peddled at Hot Topic, not a release by a german Heavy Metal legend. 12) Man & Machine - Very little memorable here. It's the only U.D.O. album I don't currently own, and honestly... I'm okay with that. I've heard it from top to bottom due to my friend owning it, but it just... never does it for me.

I agree with you here and there (for example in the number one and in "it's mostly the production that sucks" regarding No Limits) and of course disagree in some things (I wouldn't put Man and Machine to the end of the list). But opinions differ and it's a great thing

Hey Razorfist, nice to see No Limits so high up on your list, but how come you don't like Solid any better?

Solid is actually pretty great. The only problem it has is that its songs sort of blend together.
It does get +1,000,000,000,000 Metal points for Udo's line in 'Desperate Balls'.
"Ha! You call those balls?! TAKE A LOOK AT MINE!" Priceless! I crack up every time!

Doesn't the Master sing "Feel the weight of mine!"?

Another highlight of the album is Devil's Dice, I wish Udo'd come up with more tunes like that.

Doesn't the Master sing "Feel the weight of mine!"? He does. But still... whether he's having another man grope his balls or just showing them off... I'm still laughing mine off either way.

I made just a while ago an audio-cd as some kind of BEST OF U.D.O. collection. It also works as some kind of a "setlist cd", consisting of the songs I would like to hear U.D.O. playing live. However the main reason for this cd collection is that I wanted to have a cd that I can listen in the car while driving ( I do not have mp3 opportunity in my car). So the song list looks like this: 01. Don't Look Back 02. Go Back To Hell 03. We Want It Loud 04. Warrior 05. Blitz Of Lightning 06. Faceless World 07. Restricted Area 08. Future Land 09. Kick In The Face 10. Metal Maniac Mastermind 11. Streets On Fire 12. Braindead Hero (II era) 13. Sweet Little Child 14. Stillness Of Time (II era) 15. Network Nightmare (II era) 16. Man A King Ruler (II era) 17. The Devil Walks Alone (II era) 18. Mean Machine The time of this cd is something like 79 minutes and 45 seconds. That's why I had to take The Devil Walks Alone instead of Dead Man's Eyes, otherwise there could have been only 17 tracks.

You should make a 2CD collection like I did BTW, what were the tracks in your 2cd? Click here and roll down the page. I've got used to the fact that you come and ask me about it in every six months Hey Darren! Appreciate your list and your opinion but it's really hard to agree with it

Wouldn't collect the same tunes if I'd do it again Oh yes, there could quite much variations. For example I had to look the song times carefully, so I couldn't make totally the best of collection I had in mind originally.
