"Timebomb" is a true classic. I kind of take it together with "Faceless World". Both are timeless in my book (even with the drum machine on "Faceless"). I definitely agree that some of the instrumental breaks on "Timebomb" under Matthias' solos border on progressive. It's hard to top songs like "Metal Eater", "Thunderforce", "Back In Pain", and the title track. I'll have to listen to this one today.

To me Mean Machine is a timeless classic. That is a very underrated UDO album, at least the band seem not to like it.

My only problem with PowerSquad is that I can't sing the verses with Udo. Some parts are so f**king fast... my tongue breaks

As for computer drums, a couple of years ago I have got the info that they used computer drums on Timebomb. And Stefan was touring drummer. May be its better to "ask Udo" about it - I dont know. In fact I dont care to much- the albums is great, thats all I want. Yes , drums on this great album sound mighty. It would be fun if it was computer.

So read this often quoted interview with Stefan Schwarzmann, mainly this part: "The real truth, to be honest, there is just one album [where] I myself played in the studio, which means, two hands, two feet, as I sit there as a musician, as a drummer. And that's 'Timebomb'. That's the album that I played by myself, the rest was programmed by Mr. Kaufmann."

Thanks for great info, guys .
As I got from interview of Stefan, Timebomb was the only real -drum record, Mean Machine and Faceless World were computerdrums. And it really sounds !

i still like TIMEBOMB too. i remember when i got the record in 1991 and it ws my first record that i bought at the age of 15. after FacelessWorld it it a kind of an unexpected album... i remember udo was saying, recording this album was a kind of "frigg you all!! We are U.D.O. and not that band with A!" a lot of agression in the album after udo's heart attack and some disappointness... Mathias said that he was not so happy with the new direction; he loved the FACELESSWORLD stuff much more... (for me FW is the best album music-wise udo ever recorded incl. ACCEPT)...
my favourite TB song is POWERSQUAD

yep, that era of u.d.o. was pure gold. and even mathias was able to see the direction that kaufup wanted to take the band even back then as a producer!!! he got out while they were on top and before they started this long slow ride into oblivian and lies.

You mean Mathias left the .B.A.N.D. before Udo put that on ice because of the ACCEPT reunion?
