It's nice to see that TimeBomb is your second fav. To me that album is no. 1. What can I say, it's a phenomenal album. All killer, literally no filler! wow!! thanks for all the effort in that post!! very interesting, that's for sure. i agree with you on No Limits with Azrael being the best song, but putting No Limits at #12? even below mission no. x? hahahaha Thank you for the kind words! As for No Limits, let me explain the odd pairing: I get sick when I listen to the album. No, not in the metaphorical sense, my ears literally hurt and I get a strong headache. Mind you, my hearing is a bit off I fear, and the mix of the guitars on that album (which I can best describe as overdriven steel rods banging against each other) literally diminish my enjoyment of the album. The songs and tunes are fantastic, but the mixing really kills it for me. And it's no fun to listen to an album which causes additional headaches, ironically, it's the only album to ever do so. So although I'm not the biggest fan of Mission No X's mixing, it at least doesn't cause me ear pain, which is a plus

hahahaha i understand that. i get the same feeling from the "beehive" sounding guitars on the -tor albums, especially the last one. ugh. my brain literally hurts after trying to listen to it.

Okey, so this weekend I listened the whole discography of the band, it took time but now I think I can make a better list than before. So here it comes...
1. FACELESS WORLD 10
For me this is the best album ever made, there are simply no fillers on this album, I love it from the first second till the last one. This isn't the most metal album out there, but the melodies, Udo, guitar solos and production is top-class.
The best song: Blitz of lightning The worst song: -
2. TIMEBOMB 10-
Here's another masterpiece. This is mean, this is metal! On this album the Mark I -line up shows everything they've got and I love it. Dieth is on fire, Schwarzmann is on fire. If I want to listen to softer stuff I choose FW from the shelf, but when I need some metal, this is the choice. Classic.
The best song: Timebomb The worst song: -
3. MEAN MACHINE 9½
Most of the times the second album of a band is better than the first. And that happened also with U.D.O. The band just got better, when they did their songs and Dieth was making the songs. Schwarzmann is on fire on this album too, eventhough he says that there's some kind of drum computer used on this album. But I don't care, it does sound good and that's enough for me. This sounds like U.D.O., not Accept. And when it comes to this album, that's a good thing.
The best song: We're history The worst song: -
4. ANIMAL HOUSE 9-
The first one, made by Accept. It sure is better than Eat the heat, but still ain't the best album of this band. It has some great songs, I do like the sound (but maybe that's because the latest sound of the B.A.N.D.) and it's good 80's heavy metal.
The best song: Lay down the law The worst song: Run for cover
5. HOLY 8+
I have always liked this one, the sound isn't that bad yet and this one has the most memorable songs on the second era. I would be satisfied if the B.A.N.D. could do as good as album as this one is, that would be something after 13 years!
The best song: Friends will be friends The worst song: Raiders of Beyond
6. SOLID 7½
I do not like the sound of the album that much, it's too mechanic in my opinion. It sure is better than the last ones got, but with the sound of Holy this would have got better rating, I guess. It has some cool tunes, I especially like the 3 last ones. I guess I would have liked this album more, if I had listened to it for the first time in 1997 after Accept releasing Predator one year before. This is metal, not... something else.
The best song: The Healer The worst song: Devil's dice
7. THUNDERBALL 7
This one is a surprise for me, but I did like to listen to it yesterday. I have also some great memories about this, because this was the first U.D.O.-album I bought right after it was released. So it was a special moment for me to buy it as a just released from the record store. This isn't so tight as a package, but the memories and some cool tunes is the reason why this album is right now the seventh.
The best song: The land of the midnight sun The worst song: The Arbiter
8. MAN AND MACHINE 7-
I had some cool memories while listening to this one also, but this wasn't as good this time than I remembered to be. Not a bad album, but the production started to get worse on this one. The best song: Unknown traveller The worst song: Dancing with an angel
9. NO LIMITS 6½
And then this one. The songs are good ones, almost every one of them, but the production kills it. Especially this weekend, I couldn't like the sound of the album. So the problem with the sound of U.D.O. albums started already in 1998... So it's 14 years now.. Wow.
The best song: Raise the Crown The worst song: Freelance man
10. DOMINATOR 6-
It's only because of Stillness of time that this album is the number 10 on the list. Production kills everything else and the lyrics of the songs ain't that good on this album..
The best song: Stillness of time The worst song: The Bogeyman
11. MASTERCUTOR 5½
I did like this album quite much when it came out, but after Accept and after listening to the whole discography this weekend, I really don't like the sound of this album, in my opinion the sound is even better on Mission no. X.. But we can thank Rev-raptor, cause it has even worse sound, that's the "highlight" of the sound world...
The best song: Vendetta The worst song: The wrong side of midnight
12. MISSION NO. X 4½
The sound is better than on the 3 last ones, but the songs ain't good. It just feels that this one was made in a hurry after Accept2005 and all they wanted was that they wanted to get some money out of that reunion as much as possible and the sooner the better. The best song: 24/7 The worst song: Stone hard
13. REV-RAPTOR 4+
This "+"-mark comes only because of Motor-Borg and it's moments between 1:48 and 2:33. So it's 45 seconds of good stuff on one album! Not gooood. The production sucks, the songs suck.
The best song: Motor-borg The worst song: Leatherhead

Agree with you guys on the sound of No Limits. When I listen to that album (and it happens rarely) I have to turn down the highs to the minimum level. Then I'm able to survive that stuff. Thanx Rikke for the review. It was interesting to read. The different opinions make this forum a very special place

Again, the sound of No Limits could be due to my personal health, so I guess it differs for each person?
And great list Rikke, shame that you don't like Run For Cover though.

Thanks guys, I appreciate that you took time to read my list. And great list Rikke, shame that you don't like Run For Cover though. Well, I had to choose one, Run for cover is still better than anything on Rev-Raptor, for example.

Well, I had to choose one, Run for cover is still better than anything on Rev-Raptor, for example. So it's a case of choosing one track out of the many good ones? I understand, I find it hard to find a bad song on many of the earlier albums as well.

I really like that album!

Yes, even "Still in love with You" rocks In fact this is the first song which evolved into the tradition of a unusual song in the end if albums.

Oh yes I like that last Mean Machine track too. It is only Catch My Fall which I do not like and I know Rikke likes that song.
