I could translate it by the courtesy of Rikke. You don't have to I found the whole interview from my inbox on myspace! 1. This interview comes to 80srocks.net. What the 80's music means to you?
hi everybody! 80' music means a lot to me of course, that was the time i discovered a lot of good stuff and great bands, and i had myself first experiences playing with bands. there was a lot of energy and good vibes around rock'n'roll!
2. How did you get your interest in guitar playing and heavy metal?
when i was 8 years old my parents subscribed me for some classic guitar lessons at school, there i had my first contact with 6 strings, i liked it and some kind of talent appeared, but after a while i got bored and i missed something, and i prefered to play basketball in a little field in front of my parents house :-) but one day, in 1979, my cousin came to me and said "...with some friends i went in a record store and we found a new release titled highway to hell, it's a new band from australiam called ac/dc, you have to listen to it, they sound d**ned good!" ...and from the first second i heard some notes from "shot down in flames" my brain got blown, from that point on i couldn't stop anymore to listen to that music, i discovered a lot of good bands and fantastic guitar players like randy rhoads, gary moore, michael schenker and many others, and i started to want to play like that! and finally when i was 14 years old and i had my first money from my school job i bought myself an electric guitar!!! :-D
3. What do you think of Wolf Hoffmann as a guitarist?
i think he's a great guitar player, with a very good techinique and great instinct for melodies, the perfect piece with the other guys to make accept sound so special!
4. What Accept meant to you in the 80's and what it means to you today?
accept was for me like for millions of other fans in the 80' one of the greatest bands, and i think they still sound really special after all those years, that's why it's an honour for me when a lot of people and journalists now they says that U.D.O. is the following of it, delivering the same kind of energy and quality they had in the 80', and sometimes topping it, especially live!
5. Do you regularly visit the UDO fan forum and if not, why is that?
not regularly, i go there time to time, and i like to read some stuff, and i like the idea that fans have a place to discuss, criticize, laugh and share they're passion for the band. i also receive a lot of messages and visits on myspace or other sites where i'm involved for some reasons. but my job is to play, and to try to make good music, something that fans are happy to talk about ;-)
6. What is the best UDO album in which you have played and why?
that's always a difficult questions, i gave my best in all of them, but i have to choose one by the heart i would say holy, because it was the first one and i still think it's a very good and fresh album that signed a change in the band sound. i think that mastercutor after some years it's having the same effect!
7. How do you like playing in Finland?
finnish fans are a lot into our music, and they are one of the best knowing it, always giving a great welcome and energy...what else to say, it's always great to go there!
8. U.D.O. released a couple days ago a new album called "Mastercutor". What is your personal favourite song from the new album?
also not easy, but if i have to choose i would say vendetta, very good jid tempo, heavy and melodic, and there's probably the solo i played on this album that i like most.
9. When the new tour is about to begin?
we play quiet a lot of festivals during summer time, but the "real" long one will start around mid september.
10. Do you have plans in releasing a live dvd (fans would really love to get a two hour live dvd from U.D.O.)?
yes, we would like to release it! and we are planning it...let's see what happend! ;-)
11. What happened to Wild Willy's gang, because you're not in the band anymore?
i still meet and play with them time to time, they are very good friends for me and great musicicans, and we had a lot of fun, but we all have a main project and for obvious reasons i don't have so much time yet to concentrate on it, we'll see in the future...
12. What is the best guitar solo ever made in your opinion?
next hard question...mmh...i like so many, but one of the best for me is for sure mr.crowley from mr.randy rhoads!
13. Do you have any idols in heavy metal or in rock music?
i think the only band that still emotion me on that way is ac/dc.
14. And now it's time for the final question. What do you like to say to members of 80srocks.net?
i want to send a big hugh to everybody and i wish all the best and keep on listening good music and looking for good vibes!
igor

U.D.O. topping Accept in Quality? And especialy Live? With all due respect to Fitty, Francesco, Igor, Stefan and Udo, but I don't think so.

i agree. the musicianship is better in Accept, but it was also the era that Accept was around as well. it's all timing. if u.d.o. was in their 20's again now and had written the same songs, we'd say it was the other way around. except for maybe the guitar solo's.

Yes if u.d.o. was in their 20's again without doubt destination bankruptcy with their weak records... Jeno
