No doubt man, the original versions often are! There are exceptions. Chris Rea has an album - New Light Through Old Windows - with the coverversions of his own songs. Those are all better than the originals. But it's not the same thing - I know. When a band makes a cover with another band's song the resoult is weaker usually... For example I have the two Tribute to ACCEPT CDs and there isn't a single tune which is better than the original...

Well, I don't think anyone ever looks for a cover to be better than an original. Although the prime example I've seen (which I've mentioned several times before) is Saxon's version of "You've Got Another Thing Commin'". Saxon got the song right and it's an awesome song, but only with them doing it. Then if I happen to catch the Priest version it almost makes me sick.... it's that horrible!!
Speaking of redoing their own songs.... Twisted Sister redid a whole album- Still Hungry. I thought Captain Howdy was much much better this time around.... but the other songs.... ehhh.... so/so.

I agree, I thought the same thing. Haven't really listened to that remake much, but that version of Captain Howdy was excellent. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that Dee starred as Captain Howdy himself in that movie of his, gave the tune a little bit more character.
