So as a refreshment the scale is from 1 - 10. 1 - 4 (=song isn't good), 5 = average, 6 = pretty okay, 7 = good, 8 = marvellous, 9 = almost perfect , 10 = perfect.
I didnt' want to give points +, 1/2, -. If the song is worth 9,5, I give a ten. But if it is 9+, I only give 9.
ACCEPT - BALLS TO THE WALL
01. Balls To The Wall 10
One of the most known metal anthems. Some people who don't like metal happen to like this song. This song has great drumming and bass guitar playing.
02. London Leatherboys 10
Just perfect song! Everything is in order with this song. What a bass playing and the guitar solo just is cool! This song also has great guitar gimmicks by Wolf.
03. Fight It Back 10
This is fast song and quite modern actually. This song has fantastic drumming and especially great use of bass drums. Surprise, surprise: guitar solo is plain great!
04. Head Over Heels 10
Cool bass guitar intro. This song is combined with power, energy and melody in great way. It has always been one of the best parts in Accept's music to combine energy, power and melody.
05. Losing More Than You've Ever Had 10
Pounding drums and this song also has a drum solo where Stefan is using electric drums. Udo's pretty clean voice suits to this song perfectly. Atmosphere of this song is melancholic and sad. Udo uses also his rawer voice in right places. What a sense of singing!
And hey! I think this is the first time that electric drums is used in metal. Again they show that they were ahead of their time.
06. Love Child 10
This song has one of the best guitar riffs of Accept. Solo is just beautiful. Just listen to the way Stefan is drumming and I must quote Metalheart's words in this one: Stefan is a master of using the cymbals!
07. Turn Me On 10
This song starts nicely: first left speaker, then both speakers and here you have: twin guitars! After Udo singing "I explode" last time before the b-part, Stefan's drumming is cool and then Wolf's guitar gimmicks show some brilliance of him. This kind of guitar gimmicks are used really much with Death Row. That's the main reason I prefer DR over the other Accept cd:s. And on this particular song: let's not forget the great teamwork of the rhythm section of Accept! Guitar solo is brilliant once again. BTW. listen to Wolf's solo playing on this record and compare it with Ritchie Blackmore's solo playing on Rainbow 'Straight Between The Eyes" album. And I mean Wolf's solo playing throughout this BTTW cd!
08. Losers And Winners 10
Hey, come on write a letter, what's the matter. What a great German accent, to me it adds some more spice to this song! ;D Nice fast song and this song has again some critic to the American way of thinking people as losers or winners...This song is maybe too much repetitive at the end, but to my ears it is just candy!
09. Guardian Of The Night 8
As a whole nothing spectacular, but the guitar solo is marvellous. Without it this would only get 4-5 points...
10. Winter Dreams 9
This song has great atmosphere and beautiful lyrics. Something is missing from this song. To me this isn't the best Accept ballad.
ACCEPT - METAL HEART
01. Metal Heart 10
Perfect song. I don't find anything wrong with this one.
02. Midnight Mover 10
Refreshing song, commercial track, but I can't find anything wrong with this song either.
03. Up To The Limit 9
Cool bass guitar. Udo's voice is great in impressing the feeling, as always!
04. Wrong Is Right 10
Fast song, oh yeah! Chorus is marvellous. This song is quite aggressive. And as always the guitar solo is fantastic - classic Accept style. I quote Wolf here: "opposite attracts". Aggressive song containing a beautiful solo. Emotions vary quite often in Accept songs: songs have many levels.
05. Screaming For A Love-Bite 7
Good beginning and a commercial song. What this song lacks is that it is not a rocker nor it is a ballad. Accept can do better than this. Maybe this was Dieter Dierks' idea. I would love to hear a decent ballad and not a song like this. You should have a song which got balls or a beautiful ballad, not a song which is like this. As an Accept standard this is bad song, but in rock scene still good.
06. Too High To Get It Right 9
I am interpreting this song as a studio version not live version. This song works perfectly when it is played live. Why I don't give a full 10? This song as far as chorus is concerned is maybe too much repetitive. Solo is great! ;D And if you are looking my scale: this song is the same as almost perfect.
07. Dogs On Leads 9
I don't know why but I find some kind of same feeling about this song as is on Love Bites by Priest. When you're listening to this song, you're expecting what comes next. So there's nice tension on this song. Udo's is great in expressing the mood once again! What a performer and singer! Metal vocalist number one! Guitar solo is out of this world... ;D
08. Teach Us To Survive 9
Heavy metal jazz. First time in music history. Fingersnipping fits this song perfectly. Way to go Accept!
09. Living For Tonite 10
Perfect studio song, however I am not too keen on this song when they play it live, but it is from studio version that I am making some kind of a review. Great guitar gimmicks! Classic Accept song. Udo has raw voice in this one.
10. Bound To Fail 9
I like the guitar sound on this song. The ending of this song is very symphonic. The feeling I got from the end of this song reminds me of the feeling of Pomp And Circumstance by Elgar.
ACCEPT - RUSSIAN ROULETTE
01. T.V. War 10
Really fast song! This is the way how you should play the drums. Great bass drums! To me this whole album RR is somewhat a return to the roots of Accept. Lyrically this song is critical and gots irony and sarcasm. Solo is classic Accept style: in other words perrrrrfect! ;D
02. Monsterman 10
Riffmaster Wolf is kicking some ar-se! I could go on and on, how great this is. Perfect metal song. If you plan to make a group singing to a chorus, ask help form these guys. They sure put some feeling into it!! [glow=red,2,300]MONSTERMAN!!![/glow]
03. Russian Roulette 8
Some kind of Dogs on Leads kind fo feeling. The song got tension. This is melodic and sarcastic song.
04. It's Hard To Find A Way 9
Great chorus and had hit potential. This also has cool group singing, but it has something to do with beauty. Udo expresses the mood well with this one. However I think his voice is a little bit too raw with the lyrics...
05. Aiming High 10
Killer riff! And I love what I feel: hard and heavy!
This song has this guitar effect that Wolf is saying as the vomiting cow. This song is so energetic. Just listen to the guitar solo from 2:18 to 3:04, awesome! Edit: there was some time error with this song, but now it is corrected.
06. Heaven Is Hell 10
Heavy guitar at the beginning, typical Accept guitar before Udo starts to sing. Sarcastic lyrics and keyboards fits this song very well.
07. Another Second To Be 10
This song has a raw Restless and Wild era guitar sound. This song had more depth than say the song R.A.W. itself. Melodic song at the same time as it is raw. I think overall this is underrated Accept song.
08. Walking In The Shadow 10
What Accept song has the same kind of beginning idea as this one?...Correct: Down and Out. If you listen very carefully this Accept record: you can hear some elements even from I'm A Rebel, Breaker and Restless and Wild albums. And if you think UDO Animal House record, it also has this Accept roots kind fo thing as this album. Solo is as you could expect from the best metal guitar player, magnificent! Hmm, I have a deja vu...I could almost swear that I've said that before. ;D
09. Man Enough To Cry 7
To me this represents a filler of this album. Actually there's nothing big wrong with this one, but the other songs are stronger. And Accept has no reason to sound anything like AC/DC.
10. Stand Tight 10
This song has classic Accept guitar playing. This closes this album perfectly! This song grows brilliantly. This song also contains one of the best vocal performances by Udo. Solo is really bad...ha, ha, no way!!!It's brilliant, marvellous, great, awesome, everything a guitar solo should be!! ;D
So that's about it for this time. I will write my reviews about the 4 last Accept cd:s later on. But I'll promise: it won't take this long next time... I must also say that these are just my personal views, many other people see Accept records differently than me. But it's not a big problem. The main important thing is that you just love the band as a whole!
I didnt' want to give points +, 1/2, -. If the song is worth 9,5, I give a ten. But if it is 9+, I only give 9.
