So Sabaton is coming through the US beginning in September. I note that here in Phoenix, they have moved to the next largest venue, a block behind the last one the played at (and *stuffed*--I mean *STUFFED* as in *very* difficult to move around) This is where Scorpions and Judas Priest play. They have officially entered that class here in town. I'm debating whether to go, though, because this theater still seems to be doing the COVID nonsense and I just won't deal with it. Nor can I find the current policy on their website. I also note that this place seems to have changed its name *AGAIN*. I find the whole naming rights thing irritating. Have a specific name for the place and then prepend the sponsor to it. (Like "Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion" which was just Desert Sky before they started doing that stuff.) Don't make me have to figure out which venue you're talking about EVERY SINGLE TIME I BUY A TICKET!

yeah, i'm not going to go, that's for sure. here are my reasons...
1. covid policies can kiss my a$$. i'm not playing anymore. 2. in the words of the great Terence - i'm not paying good money to listen to software. the canned keyboards and vocal tracks don't belong in metal. 3. i'm still pissed off that they couldn't take 10 minutes out of their schedule to talk to my friend who was a, at the time, 95 year old world war two war hero and bataan death march survivor. it seems they forgot that WWII was also fought in the pacific ocean as well. 4. i'm still extremely disappointed that joakim fired the whole band, except the bob segar look-alike bass player, and replaced them with people that have added exactly zero to the band ever since. dumb move.

Hunh... I thought Chris was a definite upgrade. Thobbe too, while he was there. Can't speak for the others. I've not got a good ear for drumming and I haven't heard the new guy play.

I had similar opinion as John before, but the second latest album The Great War changed my mind back to loving them. Saw them live two times in Sweden (2019 and 2022) and they rock big time. It is a shame that they do not have a keyboard player, but I do not mind it anymore. The drummer, Hannes van Dahl (husband of Floor Jansen, the singer of Nightwish) is a beast live and way better than the original drummer!
You are gonna enjoy the show for sure!

And now they have an excellent solo guitarist in Tommy Johansson.

And now they have an excellent solo guitarist in Tommy Johansson. That is true, he is really good!

They still lip syncing?

probably. although i did receive a few emails from members of the band and other people associated with them blatantly denying that they use tracks. i can only comment to what i experienced personally. he dropped the mic, his vocals were still coming through the P.A., he winked at us, acknowledging what had just happened. i was there. i saw and heard it myself.

They have huge choirs in their songs, they have no choice but to play with backing loops.

Yeah, certain things are obviously from a track. However, with the uproar over the last lip synching scandal, I can't imagine any band doing it today unless someone's losing their voice or sick enough that they can't afford to sing but can still perform. It was true once that if you were caught doing this, you'd be run out of town five steps in front of a mob of angry fans who feel they're getting ripped off. So who knows.

well, it's obvious that they play to tracks because there are keyboards all over their songs and they don't have a keyboard player (how stupid is that). so i'm sure they have other sounds and also canned backup vocals. i could almost live with that but not the lead vocals. that's total bullsh*t. fukk that band in the a$$ with no lube.

Yep. Keyboards and so on I can live with but not the lead vocal. Maybe not even the choral vocals they use. The guys should learn to sing and play. Sure, it ain't gonna sound like the album but that ain't the point.

True. Some mistakes just make the whole thing more human.
