Thank you for the nice words! Well, to be honest today so many people call themselves "journalist" that this word lost its meaning. A journalist is a professional person who does this for the living, not a hobbist like me. I do put a lot of effort into my interviews to make them interesting - perhaps even unique - because my goal with my articles is to stand the test of time. I would like to make them interesting/personalized enough that they would be fun to read even 10 years later. Although I don't always succeed - maybe I do, but that's the readers' job to tell - but I try to do my best. However, I had the change to phone with some of my favorite artists, which makes it to be a blessing. As a fan, I never imagined this would happen! I talked with Andi Deris and Udo among others, I feel I'm lucky! But to bring light to a topic about Udo, I was reading some interviews from early 2020 when We are One was not announced yet. In one of those interviews he said something like "in April we will start recording the new album". I'm sure he didn't mean We are One as that album was announced in April - along with the tracklist and artwork - and let's not forget that executing such a monumental project takes a lot of time to be recorded. I believe the album was recorded in early 2020 or even the end of the last year. Do think a new "regular" U.D.O. studio album might come out next year?

As I know, UDO have plans for a new metal album next year.
It looks lke such a tempo is too high , though Primal Fear / Sinner is able to me one album after another almost every year.
But usually it takes a couple of year to collect a real strong album : 4 years for Accept simce “The Rise of Terror” in 2017 and their new album of 2021. As for Doro , it took her 6 years to release “Forever Warriors, Forever United”.

Oh yes, but that Doro double album is boring and weak despite of the 2 CD length it offers. Maybe you could compile the two CDs into a decent 10 song album, but in that form that Doro album "sucks" even though it took them 6 years to create.
I think in the case of U.D.O. we are not talking about rushed plans since the current album is not a "regular" studio album, they could reserve their "metal ideas" for a next release coming in 2021, Steelfactory was released two years ago. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if they took some songs from We are One and turned them into completely metal tunes. You "just" need to change the arrangement in some of We are One's tracks and they are regular U.D.O. songs right away.

Yes, probably “We are one” is a side-project of a different format, still music is music and Your soul and mind need some time to born some ideas of good quality. Another tor-era with its “copy-paist” production is not welcome. In thier golden time Accept could make an album every year but it was “hungry years” of youth gone wild . PS . It looks like I am still the only one here who loves Doro music One lone voice in a midst of silence They say : if You do not like cats , probably You just dont know how to cook them Actually , Doro has some sucking albums but it was in early 90s . Her style is not so heavy like Napalm Death or Cannibal Corpse , but her music is a perfect hard and heavy with touching lirycs and rocking riffs. Beeing an UDO fan, still I have to say that Doro ( and Accept ) pays more attention to sound production , to cover art-work amd lirycs. Actually they deliver more greatness, while Udo stayed more on making one album by another .

Yes they are working on their new album which is planned to be released next year. That is the good news. The bad is that Kaufmann is involved... Hopefully there'll be no drum machines

It would be cool if Peter Baltes would be in a writing team...

Lyrics for Neon Diamond:
"Neon Diamond"
There are angels of silence Just seeking a world With a heart lost in pages Where there's no love to gain Many endless desires Every dream on just gold Nothing's forever And someone's alone
Pleading, believing, willing to share a whole life Searching for something to win a heart away
Like a neon diamond A neon diamond
There is no everlasting But we always need more Why is nobody asking What is it all for We're obsessed by a hunger That cannot be filled Lost all sense of wonder On what can we build
Pleading, believing, willing to share a whole life Searching for something to win a heart away
Like a neon diamond Shining in the night A neon diamond Won't ever make it right Shining and blinding Like a neon diamond Shining in the night A neon diamond Won't ever make it right Won't ever make it right! ...

I have recently read an interview of Udo to InRock magazine. It has nothing very special on the matter to translate it from Russian but some points look interesting.
1. An interviewer has already got “We are one” album and he finds it oustanding. 2. Baltes came in when the album was on the production . While the membership of Kauffmann was planned right from the start. It went like this - Baltes and Kauffmann were working together in studio as Baltes has many projects now. So Kauffman says that he knew that Kauffman was working on some stuff of UDO project and what about him joining in. Mr. K said : “Herzlich welkommen, bro”. Thats how Baltes has got in to “We are 1” project.
2. About a half of songs are written by Baltes / Kauffmann , the other part - by UDO.
Baltes / Kauffmann have done : Pandemonium, Rebel town, Neon diamond, Love and Sin, Chilldren of the world. Smirnov - Future is the reason why, We are one
3.Here we go again - it was sang by Udo and Sven.
4. As for Mr Reuber and Mr Rennert, orchestra men, their addition was to make an orchestral aggangements. Still , 4 instrumental tracks on the album are composed by them.
5. As for the last track, “Beyond the Good and Evil” , Udo has no idea of what the language is choir singing.
