i have found the art of "drum replacement". i used to have this old product in the studio called Drumagog. it replaces drums that your recorded with pre-recorded drum sounds. i used it on a recording that my buddy Ron and i recorded a few months ago. it opens the mix up so nicely. so all the drums are played by me but the sounds are replaced by sounds that are professionally done. i'm sure that sneap and mattes do the same thing in their studios. i'm still using my real tom-tom sounds and overhead sounds for the cymbals, but just replacing the bass drum and snare.
if you want to hear it, let me know and i'll send you the mp3. so far it's just guitars, bass, and drums. still have to do guitar solos and fills, and vocals.

it was weird at the gig saturday night. we played at a new place in the rich part of town. all these 20-somethings were there and they all started gathering around the drum kit side of the stage. at the break they told me they were fascinated by my drumming! what the hell?!?!? i've seen me drum, there's nothing fascinating about it. anyway, they were really into it so i did a quick 2 minute drum solo (if you want to call it that) for them and they bought me a few makers marks whisky's. very weird night. that NEVER happens!

hahahahahaha my playing has nothing to do with being a star! hahaha i'll leave that for francesco and them kind of real drummers! it was nice of them to show some enthusiasm towards me though. it was very different. usually it's our singer or the guitar player that gets all the attention.

Yeah, that's the life of the drummers. You guys are always in the back area. But nothing would be possible without you.

this weekend at another place, i was chastised for playing too loud by the club manager. what a difference a week, and another location, makes!
