Udo was at his peak during the time of the release of Restless And Wild, Balls To The Wall, Metal Heart, and Russian Roulette. He had some great moments during the early days of his solo career too but in my opinion his voice was razor sharp during those days with Accept.

i liked his voice all the way up to the -tor era. that's when he really started packing on the weight and you could hear it in his voice.

i thought i'd bring this back up to the top. my view has changed a bit over the last few years since the last post here. i'm going to go back to my original view that his voice was incredible from R&W through Mean Machine. he has had quite a few killer parts since then but he was just unstoppable during the 80's. a complete monster on vocals. nobody could touch him. The same here of Udos voice in the 80s. But in newer times i mostly like DEATH ROW style... LIKE A LOADED GUN is the best example of angry and evil voices im combination with thf overdrived bassguitar.. the best... And STEELHAMMER is quite cool... the very bright style in udos voice, i didn't expect that f*cking cool singing. d**n good..

Like a Loaded Gun is one of the few I can bear of Death Row songs.

i can handle the death row album easily. i think the song writing on that album is probably one of the weakest, but i also think that wolf just wanted to prove that he could play some really heavy riffs. he succeeded, but i think the songs may have suffered a bit. but still, i don't think there are many songs i'd skip over if they came on my mp3 player.

For me Death Row is a masterpiece. It did broaden up the boundaries of classic metal. It also contains my fave ballad Writing On the Wall. I prefer this album from the 90's.

And the lyrics are great and contemporary even today.
