Hello Metalheads I present the metalshow "Blast" on the independent radio station www.radiofips.de in Göppingen/Germany. Our station in 100% non-commercial, we just do it for fun, the love of good music and to support artists. We are very proud to announce that Udo Dirkschneider is going to visit us in our studio on May 24, 2011 at 19:00 (German time) to be with us live on air for one hour! The show will be in German. It would be great if you tuned in on www.radiofips.de. Of course you can send us mails during the show or leave your messages, greetings or questions here in advance. It is even possible to come to our studios for a meet & greet with Udo. If you are interested just drop me a message at blast@radiofips.de. You can also contact us via facebook on www.facebook.com/fipsblastStay hard, stay heavy! Andreas

Thanx for the news Andreas! Unfortunately I don't live in Germany and everything I know in German is "Das Imperium schlägt zurück". Otherwise I would go to that meet and greet and would ask Udo about the drum-machines they have been using in the studio for long-long years... But thanx anyway and welcome to the forum! Though... You could tell him that many of the forum members are disappointed with the soundworld and the childish lyrics of the recent albums. And also with the album covers... And now you ask if I'm a fan of .U.D.O.? Yes I am, but really, really disappointed

Hello Tomcat
Thanks for your reply. I do not know very much about studio-technology, what exactly would you ask about the drum machines? I have not taken a close look at the lyrics of "Rev-Raptor" yet, can you give me an example for "childish lyrics"? I completely agree with the disappointment about sound and cover.
Greetings
Andreas

Hello Tomcat Thanks for your reply. I do not know very much about studio-technology, what exactly would you ask about the drum machines? I have not taken a close look at the lyrics of "Rev-Raptor" yet, can you give me an example for "childish lyrics"? I completely agree with the disappointment about sound and cover. Greetings Andreas Hello Andreas. Regarding the drum machines, I would simply ask Udo: "Why do Stefan Kaufmann and you insist on recording synthetic/computer drums on your albums instead of having your drummer Francesco Jovino, who is a more than capable drummer, actually play the drum tracks on an actual drum kit?" Regarding the sound, I would ask Udo: "Why does Stefan Kaufmann seem to really like to have a guitar sound with thick layers of compression and excessive chorus effects that make the distortion sound synthetic and not crunchy and metallic as opposed to albums like "Timebomb" or "Holy"?" Another sound question for Udo would be: "Udo, we love your natural voice. Why do we have to have it buried in a 100-voice choir for every chorus on every song?" Regarding the lyrics, I would ask Udo: "Udo, when listening to the last several albums, it seems that you have somewhat of an obsession with cyborgs, robots, and computers enslaving and/or battling humanity in your lyrics, and this theme comes up again on your newest album, "Rev-Raptor". What would you say to fans and critics of your's that might say that this lyrical theme is tired and unoriginal?" Regarding the album art, I would ask Udo: "Udo, what would you say to U.D.O. fans who may think that the cartoon album cover for "Rev-Raptor" doesn't really represent rebellion as you have said in other interviews or anything else, and is overall somewhat beneath your stature as a legendary heavy metal artist?" I think it would be great if you could ask Udo any of those questions. I took German in high school, but unfortunately I don't remember nearly enough of it to translate these questions into Deutsch for you. Es tut mir leid. Tchus.

Thank you very much AncientMariner for the possibility. And yes, Psychdoc has written everything instead of me. Would be great if you asked Udo about these things... And after the interview please come back and tell us his answers.

Hello psychdoc and the others Thank you very much for your contributions. I will take your questions with me to the show, I'll try to put them into the interview and bring back the answers here to this forum. Thank you. I am somewhat skeptical that Udo will be willing to answer these questions, or at least provide answers that would appease many of us here, but it would be great if you could ask him these questions.
